Happy Friday everyone :)
So today I am posting my first DT project for Chocolate, Coffee and Cards and I'm still very excited to be part of this wonderful team.
For this challenge we are sponsored by 'Robyns Fetish' and the theme is 'Monochromatic' (all one colour) you can find the home for all their wonderful stamps HERE.
We would love for you to join us for this challenge, to find the challenge and all the details please click HERE. Don't forget to check out the other fabulous DT work :)
The DT were lucky enough to have a few wonderful images to pick from and I decided to challenge myself and step right out of my comfort zone, with an image I wouldn't normally use! I also decided to step out of it even further, by using techniques I haven't used before!
You may remember a little while ago that I told you about my friend Roberta's 'chalk cards' well I thought it would fit perfect with this image and so decided to give it a go. You can find Roberta's original project from where my inspiration comes from HERE.
Well there are probably many ways to achieve this result and if you have read Roberta's post, you will see I have done it very differently to her, but it has the same desired effect. But this is my way...
So the stamp I picked was a 'Cornucopia' Firstly I loaded the digi stamp into my silhouette software and added some writing, I traced the lines and then converted the newly created cut lines into printable lines. I changed the line colour to white to represent the chalk and placed them on a black (chalkboard) background.
I created a wooden frame around the blackboard area, to try and give it the feel of a sandwich board you would see outside a shop!
After printing out all my layers and cutting them to size I added a white shadow using a white pencil around all parts of the image and writing. I then used the same white pencil on its side, to drag across and leave the smudge effects, so it looked a bit more realistic.
After popping all the layers together (including a black leafy background) the card was finished, but to make it a little more card like, rather than a mini sandwich board, I popped a sentiment on a chalkboard sign and hang it over the corner.

ReplyDeleteLove the blackboard effect Samantha and thank you for sharing such an adorable and very pretty make with us at Fashionable Stamping Challenges.
ReplyDeleteYou do not mention any stamping on your card. Can you confirm as to be entered into the FSC draw we do need to see stamping as the main focal point of the card.
This is posted at the top of the challenge blog.
"We are a stamping challenge and we do need to see some form of stamping on your projects.
You may use digi downloads for enhancement of your project but the main focal point must be stamping".
Crafty hugs from Shirl x xx
My apologies Shirl, I thought digi stamping was OK. On that case there is no physical stamping on this card, so please do not include it in the draw. Sorry again, hugs x
