ALICE BIRTHDAY CARD

Hey everyone, Hope everyone is OK and enjoying the weather, whatever part of the world your in :)

I have had a very hectic time recently, at home and in the world of craftiness!

One of the other special cards I had to make recently, was for my daughters best friend (a girl I have known since birth!)
The card from us was a very simple and glam giant '18' on a white square background, made out of silver gilding flakes, but the card I am sharing today is the one I made to her from my daughter.

She loves vintage, shabby chic things and is into things like pocket watches and the old style birdcages etc. So when given the task of making her a card, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of pocket watches,is the white rabbit from Alice in wonderland, this also fits with old, vintage things as both pocket watches and Alice can be this :)

So after checking with my daughter that her friend would like a vintage Alice card, I set out deciding what to do and making a start. I must admit, I loved making this card, it was so much fun and distressing and making stuff look old, is fast becoming one of my favourite things :p

The start of the cards
The main image before colouring
As you can see everything was printed onto white paper. The cards were distressed and then had a little clear embossing added in patches around the sides - I wanted it to have the effect that the card laquer had worn off over the years, just leaving a little bit left on the edges!

I then fanned 3 at the top and 3 at the bottom of the main image. I added her name onto the joker cards (as her name began with a J), just to personalise it.

I then added a section of the script from the scene and made sure it was a bit that mentioned birthdays :p

And coloured the main image using promarkers.

Alice

March Hare

Mad Hatter

I hope you like it. I had great fun making it :)
