DDCC CHALLENGE - TRY A NEW TECHNIQUE - NEGATIVE STAMPING

Pinch punch, first day of the month and you know what that means?! The start of the new challenge over at Dreamtime Designs :)

This is challenge 3 for DDCC, sadly the last two challenges didn't get as many participants as we hoped, but we do thank those that joined us and what wonderful projects they created too :)

To hopefully encourage a few more to join us, our fearless leader Lisa has made this months challenge a little easier for all and certainly lots of fun! Plus to match that, we have a fantastic sponsor 'Through the Craft room Door' who are offering a years subscription to their online magazine. (Check out the end of my post for the full details on this super prize).

This months challenge is 'try a new technique' with a Christmas twist it's as simple as that! (I know, I know, mines not very Christmassy :( With everything going on, I missed the update on the Christmas part and thought it was still just a 'new technique'...Sorry everyone)
So what's been sitting on your to-do list for some time now?    What do you really fancy having a go at, but haven't tried yet?
Create a project using a technique you haven't used before, it doesn't have to be difficult, just something new to you :)

Well as many of you may be aware, I'm still a newbie to most if this, so my to-do list is as long as my arm (and a bit more lol). So this challenge was perfect for me :)

Due to family commitments recently, including some not so happy news :(  A lot of my time has been with my family over the last couple of weeks, so I couldn't spend as much time as I would love to, on this super fun challenge.

That said, I picked a technique that was simpler than some of the others on my list, but still that I have never tried before :)

The technique I chose was 'negative stamping'. Simple, yet a great effect (well I think so anyway).

Firstly I needed a stamp for this, the rubber kind, not digital! Secondly it needed to be a stamp that would suit being black and white and had enough details on it to stand out, even if not coloured. I wracked my brains and then remembered I had a 'Gorjuss' stamp set by 'Docrafts' and as these can be a little bit gothicky I knew it was the stamp to use!

The stamp I used, is 'I gave you my heart'

Firstly I got two sheets of card/paper - one white and one black.

I versamarked  my stamp, applied it to the black sheet of card and then quickly added some WOW bright white embossing powder. I heat set the powder and then repeated on the white sheet, this time using Papermania black embossing powder.

Once dried, I cut both images in half in the same place!
You can do the cut downwards rather than across if it suits your image more, mine looked better this way round.

Check your lines match up, so that the image looks like one!

Then cut around both images to leave yourself with a mountable image size.

I then created a frame for my image, using opposite colours on each end.

It was time to piece the card together. I decided to keep the rest of the card black and white too. I added some black flowers, black pearls, black ribbon and a little black heart, all from my stash.

The papers are digital papers from 'Forever Friends Black and gold collection'

What do you think? You could of course add colour anywhere you wanted, I just liked the feel if a full B&W card.

Don't forget to check out the other DT projects and have a read of all the fun they had too :)

And more importantly don't forget to show off your new technique over at DDCC in this months challenge! Check out the prize on offer too...Wowie, you won't be disappointed :)

It reminds me a little of the chalkboard effect, it makes me want more rubber stamps to try it out lol and the rest of your design is perfectly matching the colours of the reverse stamp too! I love that I could try this quote easily! And I will! Thanks Sam! This is great!
