MILKCOFFEE SHOWCASE - RED OR GREEN MUST NOT BE SEEN

I am not 100% happy with the following card, but all my creativity had got up and gone when I came to finishing this (thankfully I had already typed most of the post up though), as I had sadly had to have one of my beloved cats put to sleep...He was 14 and I had had him since the day he was born :( He will be very sadly missed xx
-------------
It's showcase time over at MilkCoffee and the theme is Red or Green must not be seen! Much harder than it looks with a Christmas card...lol..

The image I picked for this challenge was Charlotte & Candy Cane.

As I couldn't use Red or Green and I wanted to perhaps use slightly different colours than the turquoise and pink I seem to be hooked on! I had to really think about what colours may fit well with the image and what I wanted to do with it!

I settled on Purple for Charlotte's clothing and the candy's bow. I was stumped when it came to the holly berries, its OK I thought cleverly to myself, I'll do white berries for mistletoe, ha no red....Yes I forgot.... What about the leaves!! Hmmm...So for some reason I decided brown would be a good colour, as it is a warm colour, not stopping to think for one second that leaves turn brown when they are dead! So I happily coloured away, just to finish the leaves, sit back and think, oh dear, Charlotte looks like she has a clump of dead mistletoe stuck to her candy cane!

Lol, but it was too late to change it at that point and although I could paper piece over the leaves, other than bright yellow, I'm not sure what colour I would do them lol Perhaps I should of picked an image that didn't have something on it that really should only be one of the colours that I can't use! I added a bit of brown/vintage stickles in the hope that a bit of sparkle would cheer the leaves up hehe.

For the base of the card I used bright white card, masked a strip across the card and inked it in yellow. I then stamped some Poinsettias across this strip before unmasking.

I then created a quick sentiment and edged it with purple ink and popped this in the corner.

After cutting Charlotte out I popped her onto the front of the card too.

Don't forget to pop along and take a look at the other fabulous images the DT have been using.
