It's challenge time over at MilkCoffee and with Valentines day just around the corner, the theme is 'Valentines/Love'
I picked the gorgeous image Charlotte Valentine Date for this challenge. She's just perfect for the theme don't you think?
I had my first attempt at 'real' stitching onto card for this project and I must say it's addictive lol. I stitched around the mat Charlotte is on and around the hearts in the corner.
The main base of the card has been clear embossed using a flower stamp and then coloured with Distress ink. The little mats poking out were cut using spellbinder dies and inked.
I created a little shiny broach like embellishment for the corner, by cutting a piece of card with my spellbinders dies and then popping on an oval gem stone.

The front heart has the words 'I love you' Printed all over it. So I decided to use some liquid pearls to frame one of the sentences and make it more of a feature. I also popped a little bit of lace underneath, for added texture.
I seem to have lost all of my pearls when moving my goodies into their new home! I spent 40 minutes looking for them and sadly couldn't find them :( So I opted to use liquid pearls in clusters around the card as it was all I had available late at night..lol...I'm sure my pearls will turn up, but its rather frustrating when they would have been a better colour and size, ah well!
If you've seen any of my other projects, you will notice I don't normally do black hair...hehe....It's just a colour I can never seem to get right, but as the clip in her hair bled so badly I had no option but to attempt darker hair. I know it needs some work, but I was relatively happy with how it turned out in the end.

DeleteBeautiful, Sam. Amazing colouring (gorgeous deep red dress and fabulous black hair) and your handmade brooch looks incredible. I love the stitching; it is sommething I have always admired on other's creations but have never been brave enough to try myself. I won a sewing machine some time ago (was never going to buy one) and the poor thing has not seen the light of day yet. I may have to be brave, give it a dust, and plug it in!! xx
ReplyDeleteWow lucky girlie winning a sewing machine, although I can't talk I've got my mother in laws machine that i borrowed the day she bought it, to make some large curtains with and its never gone back! Hehehe I have said to her about it, but she seems happy for me to keep it here lol x
DeleteAbsolutely gorgeous and the black hair is perfect. Thanks for playing along at Cuttlebug Mania this time x
ReplyDeleteIt's so very lovely Sam! And I personally love the liquid pearls (you've just made me realise that I MUST buy some silver!). I think the fact they don't come out perfectly uniform can often add to the effect, especially when it's more of a "fussy" card with lots going on, rather than a CAS. but then, I make a lot of shabby chic, which is supposed to be... well... shabby! lol.
ReplyDeleteBut either way, your card is gorgeous, the stitching brilliant and her hair is soooo gorgeous! x
Thank you so much Sammy.Hugs x
DeleteSuch an adorable card! I love all the little details and the girl is really striking against the background. Her hair is coloured amazingly.
