ARTBYMIRAN - WISH UPON A STAR....

Morning all, how is everyone today? Yesterday was a gloriously sunny day here in my part of the UK, I hope you are all getting some nice weather where you are :)

It's that time again where I get to host the Artbymiran Blog.

Today I would like to share a canvas I have made, using the gorgeous image Lunar Deity

This is my anything goes project for this month.

It will be my youngest daughter Lillys 2nd birthday at the start of next month, so I decided to create a canvas for her bedroom. She loves nursery rhymes, especially twinkle twinkle and doing shiny star actions with her hands hehe, so I thought Lunar would make a great addition to a canvas based around this nursery rhyme!

Lunar is coloured using Promarkers.

First of all I made up some PVA and water mixture. I picked DP's for the background and started tearing and laying down pieces until I was happy with how they were all laid out and all of the canvas was covered.

I then used the PVA/water mix to glue all of the pieces in place and then coat over them to create a kind of glaze. This was then left to dry.
I then randomly painted the canvas with pink paint, focusing mainly on the edges.

After it was all dry, I used a variety of stamps (mainly just sections of the stamps, held in my hand not on a block) to stamp randomly all over the canvas. Things like 'love' and 'once upon a time' or mini stars or hearts, all things that I thought would be suited to nursery rhymes and fairytales, there's even parts of a castle on there :)

I then mixed up a water/White paint solution and began brushing all over and then just dabbing away bits here and there to give a more random look to the painting.

Here is a close up of  'Lunar Deityand one of the sayings.

After this layer was dry and I was happy ( I did add a few more bits of the paint/water solution here and there), I then started to add embellishments. There's a small book, flowers, ribbon, pearls, lace etc. I just placed them where I thought would look right and glued it all down once happy.

The words are all cut out of vinyl and stuck into place, I also white washed over these, especially the pink words as they were very bright!

Lunar was adhered the same way as the DP's were at the start and then lightly coated with PVA/water mix. Once dry, she was also painted over using the white wash. I also used a little gold guilding wax around the back edge of the moon to try and blend it onto the canvas.

If anyone has any questions on this project or would like a tutorial, please message me below or contact me using the contact form at the bottom of my blog.

I hope you like it, I may change or add a couple of bits, but overall I was pleased with how it had turned out.

  5. This is simply stunning. You put so much care and thought into this. I love that you explained everything with smaller photos because the one overall photo just doesn't do this justice. It's a work of art. Thank you for joining ScrapbookerPhD's challenge, use vinyl.
