RIBBON CARD

Have you checked out the 'Dreamtime Designs' blog? If not, head over there now, you won't fail to be inspired - There is also a sweet little Etsy shop, where you can purchase some of Lisa's wonderful creations.

Her designs are beautiful and if you take a closer look at her work, you will see just how much attention to detail there is, lots of little things that you don't even notice at first glance.

Lisa seems like a lovely lady and was very kind to leave some wonderful comments on my blog and more importantly some wonderful advice! (Please see my last post Polka Dot Pals, where I have taken closer shots of my work as suggested - Thanks Lisa :) p.s. I also got a box thingy (technical, I know!!) to stand my creations in, enabling all background distractions to be removed - I highly recommend something similar to anyone taking regular photos of their projects.

Anyway, back to the post, a DT call for Dreamtime Designs is being held - You can apply HERE - The theme is ribbon.

I'm not sure my style quite fits and I do like to try and do something a little bit different from the norm, but I certainly don't want to miss out on the opportunity to work with what I'm sure will be a wonderful team - If I'm not lucky enough to get picked, I will certainly be watching the team develop and grow and to get some wonderful inspiration.

I decided that rather than just using ribbons on my project, that I wanted to actually make the ribbon the feature of the project.

I sifted through my rapidly growing box of ribbon and found a few ribbons that I felt I could make captions for and then put my thinking cap on.

I wanted to keep the design CAS and so opted for cream cardstock for the card itself, with white card for the topper section. I created the shape to be cut in Silhouette Studio and then applied a grey offset border around it just to enable the white card to pop from the cream card.

Once I was settled on my captions and a font, I added the words to the rectangle I had just created and below each sentence I added two cut slots (for the ribbon to be threaded through) I set my Silhouette to cut. Added on my ribbon, attached my top section to the main card and that was it card finished :)

The hardest bit about doing this card was thinking of the sayings to match the ribbons and setting the layout to be just right, including the right width to show off each ribbon as it should be, i.e. the 'made with love' ribbon having all words visible.

This was my finished card

Hopefully my card will inspire even the  newest of crafters as it is a very simple yet effective design.

Thanks for looking and please keep your fingers crossed for me :)
