BABY CARD

On Tuesday night I went out for the first time in  a long time without the kids....lol....And I met up with 5 fab freinds that I used to work with. I worked with them for about 8 years, but left that company about 5 or 6 years ago. It's been a couple of years since i've seen most of them, but it was like we had never been apart. What a fab night I had, I didn't stop laughing and ate way too much!!

Anyway one of them has recently become a nanny and her daughter, who i've known since she was a youngster is the proud mum of a beautiful baby boy. So I couldn't go without making a card for her daughter and this is it.

First of all I used three cute baby animals from my Kanban clear stamps set,

I masked them up and tried to make them look like a group together.

I have to confess I did initially do a completely different design where these were stamped directly on, hated it, so cut these off to use on something else, as I was happy with how they had turned out, even if I wasn't happy with the rest!

They were stamped with Impress dye ink (yes I should've used my pigment ink as I was embossing!) but I managed to still get some powder to stick, not fantastic but still a lovely little shine to the edges. They were then coloured with Promarkers.

Meet Tiger:

Monkey:
& Elephant:

After cutting them out, I added them to a mat with a scalloped edge, I first used a little bit of pine green distress ink just to take some of the bright whiteness away (a bit difficult to see in the photos as it was so suttle). I first masked off the scalloped pieces though so that this part remained white, this helps it to still pop I think.

To make sure it was personalised I printed and cut out a circle (with the silhouette) for placement behind my cute animals, I welded baby's name around the circle so that these letters also cut out too and added some soft brown cardstock behind the lettering, to give them a bit of definition.

I then added my other layers/mats, including some gorgeous glittery cardstock from 'summer breeze' collection, as not only did it at that bit of sparkle, but i felt the colours matched well with the rest of the card, as it has bright tones mixed in with the softer tones.

The finishing touch was to add a paper ribbon across the card, with congratulations and a few hearts and kisses on.

This was the finished card:

  5. Such sweetness to welcome a little one :>) What a way to arrive at the final product, but worth it. I tend to stay away from masking because it always takes about 10 tries to get it just right! Thanks for joining in the fun at LMMS with this great take on the sketch!!!
