MELTED CRAYON HEART

Well someone recently....(I'll mention no names... Gemma!!) posted about this type of project and of course once then looking it up and thinking WOW I of course had to have a go.

Now I didn't really have much time, but as we are paying for our daughters expensive car insurance for her birthday she wasn't actually getting a 'physical' present as such and I know she would love something like this (well perhaps a good one not made by me...lol), so I thought what the heck, its something for her to actually open and won't cost a lot!

Let me just say, if you can get wax inhalation poisoning, I think I did!!! I was melting crayons so long that i felt very sick and had a stinking headache afterwards, or perhaps that was just the stress of it all lol

I got a pack of 3 canvasses from a Wilkinsons store for £4 (this being the largest canvas out of the pack) and two packs of 48 crayons for 89p each, from a local pound shop (yes i know...pound shop.....89p...go figure...lol) I used most of the crayons (have a few not so good darker ones left) and that included as a tester on this tiny little canvas i had laying about (pack of 4 mini ones for £1! That i got some time ago)

Anyway I had ago (below), the result where OK and I decided to give it to my daughter, clearly stating that if she didn't like it she didn't have to put it up, but thankfully she did :) She loves retro type of things or things that are a little different.

I stuck the crayons on with a hot glue gun and heated with a heat gun, that was pretty much it. Other than turning the canvas regularly and avoiding falling, coming unstuck crayons and getting fumed out...lol

This was the canvas, there were a few little bits I was unhappy with, that you may be able to see in the photo below (little marks or bits of colour where they shouldn't be!) so after i took these photos, I took a little bit of white paint and touched these areas up, before letting it dry and then wrapping it up.

Hope you like it :)

  4. WOW Jay, this looks awesome! I love them both, but I especially love the smaller one. It looks like something artistic that my brother would have tried. He was an artist and always experimenting! Super job girl!
