BE KRAFTY! - TOP TIP TUESDAY CHALLENGE POST

Its a new challenge at TTT today and boy this was a fun one :) The challenge this fortnight was set by Lisa S and is 'Be Krafty' - Use Kraft or something made of Kraft in your project.

We are very lucky to have two excellent sponsors this week! One is the fabulous Bugaboo who are offering 7 digis to a lucky winner and the other is the fantastic Tammy Louise with EZ shapes, who is offering 2 shape EZ templates to one lucky winner!! Wow....
I have used one of Tammy's fab EZ shape templates called 'Take out box' and Bugaboos image 'Birdie told me'

Tip - Kraft paper doesn't always have to be 'natural' colour, there are many coloured options now available. Also don't forget you can find Kraft paper or card in some everyday items - Some brown envelopes are Kraft paper, some cardboard packaging is Kraft card, so be sure to look around you home to see what you can find :)

For my box, I used Chocolate brown Kraft card..Yum!! With Turquoise and chocolate brown spotted ribbon (Turquoise seems to be one of my favourite colours at the moment lol!)

The template was pretty easy to cut and put together, I initially did a test cut by hand and then this final cut using the silhouette, so it shows just how versatile the templates are, as you can do it either way.
You can also re-size them to the size you want (I made quite a cute, smallish box) and also in with the main template come the templates for side and top flap panels for if you wanted to decorate with DP etc. I chose not to use these as I wanted a simple box, with a ribbon to show it off.

I then printed and cut out the cute Bugaboo image 3 times, which is also great as this can be a universal sentiment .i.e for a thank you, a birthday, a congrats etc. All three were distressed around the edges with 'tumbled glass' distress ink.

I coloured two of them in Turquoise to match the ribbon and used a contrasting pink for his belly and beak, this was then mounted onto a natural colour Kraft circular mat and mounted on the sides of the box, that had no ribbon.

The third birdie was coloured in reverse colours and mounted on a chocolate brown circular Kraft mat and mounted onto a little piece of natural Kraft that I had, that had been creased to make a mini card, with a strip of matching ribbon down the side.

I popped some bright pink tissue paper inside the box and all that's needed now is a little treat to go inside. I've got a few birthdays coming up, so I can't wait to fill this and give it to someone :)

Both make a cute little matching set to give. What do you think?

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's projects and tips :) Lisa S has also done a wonderful tutorial for you all to check out.
