CRAFTING CAFE CHALLENGE - DECEMBER SKETCHES

Well finally my time has come to share my first DT post for Crafting Cafe and to host the blog over there today too :) (Really, they let me loose with the blog!! hehe..Crazy people!) In fact they are all very lovely and talented people and have made me feel very welcome.

The talented Nikki made 4 sketches to choose from, for the challenge this month (see the main blog for all of the sketches) I choose to use sketch number 1. Which is this one.

I still had to make hubby a card and I've had this bad Santa from MIC printed and waiting for a little while now, so I decided to finally get round to colouring him up and he fitted perfectly for the shape of this sketch!

Before printing Santa out I added in some roof tops so that he looked like he was flying over them.

I coloured him up with my Promarkers, ideally I wanted to colour the sky darker to look like night time but I just don't have the confidence yet and had already coloured Santa and his sleigh at the point of starting the sky, so I opted for my safe zone colour instead!

The background cogs and wheels border was from the silhouette store that I picked up in their bargain black Friday sale, the same as the adorable little cog heart!! I just think this is sooo cute, it actually looks like cogs but is a heart...Just perfect for the man in my life...hehe...

I coloured the border with walnut distress ink and black dye ink and the heart and sentiment with just the distress ink. I then mounted it onto some gorgeous bluey/grey card that I have had sitting in my stash for ages.

It's great, it looks like a grey/blue colour and quite plain (so not to girly) but then as it catches the light you see the real bluey sheen it has and it has a lovely texture too.

You can see the blue sheen in some photos and the more grey tone in others.

Don't forget to check out the rest of the DT's projects that have been and will be displayed throughout the month
