CYP CHALLENGE - BUTTONS GALORE

It's time for another challenge over at Craft Your Passion and this week the theme is 'Buttons Galore', this can be any kind of button, real, chipboard, polymer clay etc.  Our sponsors this week are the wonderful QKR Stampede.  They have a massive selection of stamps, digi and rubber, aswell as other goodies, you can find their store HERE.

I'm still trying to work my way through getting my Christmas cards made and this card was no different :)

I picked the adorable digi stamp 'friends' how sweet are these guys?! I love these ragdoll type characters and you'll find a whole load of them at QKR :)

Onto my buttons! I knew as soon as I saw the image, what bits I wanted to add the buttons too, but the problem was finding the colours I wanted or colours that matched the rest of my layout or buttons that were small enough!

So I decided to make my buttons, that way I could have the right everything :)

Firstly I embossed a piece of blue snowflake card with a vintage button frame, then after cutting away all the bits I didn't need, I used distress ink to add some depth to the embossed lines. Once this bit was done I set about creating my buttons.

For this, I used shrink plastic. Firstly I cut numerous  circles out, in two different sizes. Then I matched two promarkers as closely as possible to the inked frame. I used these to colour in the shrink plastic circles. Once the ink had dried a bit, I added little button holes with a black marker and then popped them all in the oven. After about 10seconds they were all shrunk down and had formed the cutest, most perfect  hard little buttons, in colours that were exactly what I wanted!

I coloured the image using my promarkers, added the buttons where I wanted them (including a nice turquoise one lurking in my stash) and I was finished.

Thanks for stopping by, don't forget to come visit us over at CYP :)
